  • MYOB Tip - Jan 2012

  • DO NOT UPGRADE to the latest version of MYOB now being released.

If you are an MYOB Cover member and receive your upgrade to the latest version of MYOB, I strongly recommend that you DO NOT upgrade at this time.

The MYOB program has been re-written into an SQL version of the product. This is a very good thing and will mean that the MYOB software can now move forward in leaps and bounds. However currently the new release is experiencing numerous bugs and is causing users all sorts of problems.

We therefore recommend that you put off upgrading from Version 19.6 to the latest version until the bugs have been dealt with by the MYOB technical team.

Watch this space for further advice.

  • QuickBooks Tip - Jan 2012

  • Consider using the Hosted (Online) Version of QuickBooks

A significant number of our clients are now using the Hosted (Online) version of QuickBooks. I am using it myself for our own accounting. Some of the advantages of using the online version of the product are:

    1.  You can access your QuickBooks file from any computer, any where, any time.

    2.    Your file is very well protected. It is being backed up every hour on the Reckon servers and is backed up in multiple locations and in multiple countries. Compare that to your own current backup process.

    3.   You will be using the Enterprise version of QuickBooks. This is currently the highest    version of their product range and means you will have access to all features of the     QuickBooks program, including features only available in Enterprise such as the      advanced user security feature, at a very reasonable cost.

    4.   You will never have to upgrade your software again. The software sits on the Reckon servers and is upgraded when upgrades are available by the Reckon Technical team.Upgrading your data file is a very simple process each year.
